Sofija is the founder and Principal Lawyer of Plainly Legal. With more than 14 years of post-admission legal experience, Sofija brings seasoned legal judgment, careful preparation and a practical approach to migration law.

Before establishing Plainly Legal, Sofija practised in commercial litigation. This work involved analysing complex facts, assessing evidence, advising clients about risk and strategy, preparing persuasive legal arguments, and guiding people through high-stakes disputes. These skills now inform her approach to migration matters, where the details, the evidence and the way a case is presented can be critically important.

Sofija’s decision to establish a migration law practice is also deeply connected to her own migrant background. Having seen how migration shapes a person’s opportunities, relationships and sense of belonging, Sofija understands that a migration matter is rarely just an administrative process. It can determine where someone builds a home, pursues a career and creates a future with the people who matter most.

That personal connection, combined with more than a decade of legal practice, led Sofija to create Plainly Legal: a practice focused on making migration law clearer, more approachable and easier to navigate.
